Actually to be fair the pensioners that are hit hardest by this are
those who choose to spend the winter fuel allowance, which is
equivalent to 1/4-1/3 the average annual total energy bill, on Xmas
presents for the grandchildren.
They get paid a specific allowance to make sure they have adequate
heating. Sadly some of them are too stupid to use it for what it was
intended for, preferring instead to spend it on booze, bingo or Xmas
presents.
